Hanukkah is the Jewish Festival of lights, celebrated each year around the same time as Christmas. It commemorates the dedication of the Temple of Jerusalem in 165 B.C. when the Jews had enough lamp oil to light the temple for one day, but miraculously, the oil lasted eight days. So today, Jews celebrate Hanukkah for eight nights, lighting candles and often giving gifts on each night.
