Blog Tour Update and General News

The first week of the Summer 2014 A Plunder of Souls Blog Tour is winding down, with this post, which is not on the official schedule, but which counts anyway.  My Blog Tour, my blog, my rules.  This was a quiet week — next week things begin to pick up.  I’ll be visiting the blogs of Faith Hunter and Kate Elliott, and I’ll also be a guest at Fantastical Imaginations, All Things Urban Fantasy, Black Gate, and Drey’s Library.  And I’ll be starting a month-long appearance at my old virtual stomping grounds, Magical Words. As the July 8 release of A Plunder of Souls approaches, I have also started my teaser countdown on Facebook.  Yesterday I linked to the short story that serves as a prequel to the new novel.  The short story is called “A Spell of Vengeance,” and it can be found at Tor. com, where is was published in 2012.  Also at Tor.com, you can find the first two chapters of the book.  Starting tomorrow, and continuing on a daily basis until the release, I’ll be adding passages from the book to my Facebook page.

Finally, I would like to direct you to the appearances page on the D.B. Jackson website, which I have recently updated to reflect the latest plans for my signing tour, as well as another conference appearance, about which I’m very excited.  In October, I will be an instructor at the Annual Conference of the South Carolina Writers’ Workshop.  I’ve attended the SCWW Conference several times before and have always had a great experience there.  I’m looking forward to this year’s meeting and hope to see many of you in Myrtle Beach. A New Interview as the Summer Blog Tour Shifts Into Fall

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post for the Summer 2013 Thieves’ Quarry Blog Tour (yes, it’s September, but it’s still summer officially . . .), and in that time I have attended DragonCon, and been busy on a couple of other fronts that I can’t discuss just yet but hope to announce soon.  Today, I am happy to point you to an interview I did with Garrett Calcaterra about writing professionally in the current market.  Originally, Garrett interviewed me for an article he published at Black Gate Magazine that touched on these issues and focused not only on me, but also on fellow writers M. Green With Envy

So I’m having a great time at Marcon.  I’ve gotten to spend time with Faith Hunter and Lucienne Diver, I’ve met some terrific people, and had a few fun and interesting panels.  But I have to admit that I have one strong regret about being here instead of at home.  My wife and daughters got to see Alison Krauss and Union Station tonight in Chattanooga, and had I been home I would have gone with them.  I love AKUS and though I’ve seen them in concert a few times before I still would have enjoyed seeing them again.

Anyway, tonight I get back to my hotel room and check my messages and there on my Facebook page is a photo of my two daughters standing with their arms around AKUS lead mandolinist and singer, Dan Tyminski, the voice behind the version of “Man of Constant Sorrow” from the movie Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou.  I kid you not.  I KNOW there is a great story behind this photo.  I can’t wait to hear it.  And yes, I am totally jealous of my kids.
